Informatización del sistema de vigilancia de la Morbilidad Materna Extremadamente Grave en Cuba

Introduction: the use of information technology as a tool to support the medicine practice is a reality on the increase. At present, reducing maternal mortality rate remains a huge challenge. Extremely-severe maternal morbidity is a frequent indicator associated with maternal death. Its analysis provides the opportunity to identify and assess the risks present during pregnancy, delivery and puerperium. Objective: to develop computer software that allows computerizing information regarding extremely severe maternal morbidity, which will be managed in the health centers all over the country. Method: a technological development type research was carried out for which theoretical methods were used: historical-logical, induction-deduction and modeling. Using the empirical methods such as bibliographic review, observation and interview as well. Results: the software was developed and oriented to manage the information of the patients, with specificities according to the Cuban health system. This system allows the collection, analysis and interpretation of information. It also provides statistics to draw strategies, to calculate the indicators and to generate graphics. Conclusions: a pioneering product was obtained since there are no records in the country. With its conformation, the management process of patients with extremely-severe maternal morbidity was computerized and its application improves the quality of the information collected at the different levels.Introducción: el uso de la informática como herramienta de ayuda a la medicina es una realidad en auge. En la actualidad sigue siendo un enorme desafío reducir la mortalidad materna. La morbilidad materna extremadamente grave, es un indicador muy asociado a la muerte materna. Su análisis, brinda la oportunidad de identificar y evaluar los riesgos presentes durante el embarazo, el parto y el puerperio.Objetivo: desarrollar un software que permita informatizar lo referente a la morbilidad materna extremadamente grave, que se gestionará en los centros de salud del país.Método: se realizó una investigación de tipo desarrollo tecnológico para la cual se emplearon métodos teóricos: histórico-lógico, inducción-deducción y modelación. Métodos empíricos como la revisión bibliográfica, la observación y la entrevista.Resultados: se elaboró un software orientado a gestionar la información de las pacientes, con especificidades acordes al sistema de salud cubano. El sistema permite la recolección, análisis e interpretación de la información. Facilitando además estadísticas que permiten trazar estrategias, así como calcular indicadores y generar gráficos.Conclusiones: se obtuvo un producto novedoso ya que no existen antecedentes en el país. Con su conformación se logró informatizar el proceso de gestión de las pacientes con morbilidad materna extremadamente grave y su aplicación mejora la calidad de la información que se recibe en los diferentes niveles
