TINJAUAN KONSTRUKSI BANGUNAN RUMAH TINGGI DI KAMPUNG ARAB AL-MUNAWAR PALEMBANG

Indonesia is a country that has traditional houses in almost every province. The architecture of traditional houses in Indonesia is identical to houses that use local materials obtained from the natural surroundings. The durability of the structure and construction of traditional houses is an essential concern, considering the materials used are constantly being consumed by the times. Rumah Tinggi is part of the typical Palembang pyramid house with the use of materials that are dominated by wood. Rumah Tinggi still survives today during the progress of the times. The review of high-rise construction is interesting to study considering the age of the building is more than 250 years, with occupants from the 7th generation. The research is located in the Arabian village of Al-Munawar, Palembang, with the object of Rumah Tinggi. The method used is qualitative with an observation and interview approach. This study aims to identify the existence of traditional houses called high houses against the development of the times. The study results show that using wood materials still dominates the structure and construction of Rumah Tinggi. Rumah Tinggi still survives to this day. Residents of the house still apply building maintenance by replacing damaged wood components and paint to rejuvenate the atmosphere of Rumah Tinggi. Adjustments in high houses do not fade the authenticity and characteristics of Rumah Tinggi.Abstrak_Indonesia merupakan negara yang memiliki rumah adat hampir di setiap provinsi. Arsitektur rumah tradisional yang berada di indonesia identik dengan rumah yang menggunakan material lokal yang diperoleh dari alam sekitar.  Ketahanan struktur dan konstruksi rumah tradisional menjadi perhatian penting mengingat material yang digunakan terus termakan oleh zaman. Rumah Tinggi merupakan bagian dari rumah limas khas Palembang dengan penggunaan material yang didominasi oleh kayu. Rumah Tinggi masih bertahan hingga saat ini di tengah kemajuan zaman. peninjauan konstruksi Rumah Tinggi menjadi menarik untuk diteliti mengingat umur bangunan yang lebih dari 350 tahun dengan penghuni dari generasi ke-7. Penelitian berada di Kampung Arab Al-Munawar kota Palembang dengan objek Rumah Tinggi. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan observasi dan wawancara. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi eksistensi konstruksi rumah tradisional yang disebut Rumah Tinggi terhadap perkembangan zaman dan teknologi konstruksi terbarukan meliputi konstruksi sub structure, super structure, dan upper structure. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukan bahwa struktur dan konstruksi Rumah Tinggi masih didominasi dengan penggunaan material kayu. Konstruksi Rumah Tinggi yang didominasi oleh material kayu masih tetap bertahan sampai saat ini. Konstruksi kayu yang umumnya digunakan pada rumah tradisional terdahulu ternyata mampu bertahan hingga saat ini. Pemilihan jenis kayu yang tepat oleh masyarakat lokal dan dengan ilmu pertukangan masa lampau menjadikan konstruksi rumah yang kokoh. Pemeliharaan khusus pada material lokal seperti kayu harus terus dilakukan guna memperpanjang masa pakai dari kayu tersebut. Pemeliharaan bangunan tetap dilakukan oleh penghuni rumah dengan melakukan pergantian komponen kayu yang rusak, serta melakukan pengecatan untuk memberikan peremajaan pada suasana Rumah Tinggi. Penyesuaian yang terjadi pada Rumah Tinggi tidak membuat keaslian serta ciri khas Rumah Tinggi pudar. The study results show that the use of wood materials still dominates the structure and construction of the Rumah Tinggi. The construction of Rumah Tinggi, dominated by wood materials, persists to this day. The wooden construction, which is generally used in the previous traditional houses, has been able to survive until now. The selection of the correct type of wood by the local community and past carpentry knowledge makes for solid house construction. Special care on local materials such as wood must continue to be carried out to extend the wood’s service life. Residents of the house still maintain building maintenance by replacing damaged wood components and paint to rejuvenate the Rumah Tinggi atmosphere. The adjustments that occurred in the Rumah Tinggi did not make the authenticity and characteristics of the High House fade.
