An analysis of ambiguity of Rich Brian's song lyrics in the Sailor album

This research presents study aims to describe the types of lexical ambiguity and meaning of lexical ambiguity in the songs entitled The Sailor album by Rich Brian. The research has two research questions which indicated the process of the analysis of the song lyrics: 1) What types of lexical ambiguity are found in The Sailor album by Rich Brian? 2) How to analyze the meaning of ambiguity which found in The Sailor album by Rich Brian? In analyzing data, the writer has used qualitative method. The theory used in this study is the theory argued by Hurford and Heasley to identify the types of lexical ambiguity. They are Polysemy and Homonymy. From the two types, lexical ambiguity polysemy were the most often appear in the song lyrics. The results of this study can enrich the data for people who are going to analyze song lyrics, poems, and other sources. The album The Sailor by Rich Brain consisting of 12 songs have analyzed with lexical ambiguity and then found 36 data. Besides, only 10 songs have lexical ambiguity type of polisemy found 27 data and only 4 songs have lexical ambiguity type of homonymy found 9 data
