In this research, the researcher analyzes the portrayal of women character as rebels in Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre and Ayu Utami’s Saman as the objects of the study. The reason is the portrayal of women character as rebels has relation with reality. The women characters from both of novel portray the situation which are proper to rebels. So that, the researcher believes that there must be a problem in the how portray the women character that makes the researcher intends to analyze the portrayal women character as the proper problem to analyze.
