Expository outlines of Islamic Da'wah: an overview on its objectives, sources and those called to Islam (Madʿu)

This research employed qualitative methodology that incorporates the approach of collection of data from primary and secondary sources. They are analysed using the textual and content analysis approach.The purpose of this article is to provide expository outlines on Islamic missionary thought and practice (Islamic Da'wah) in general. The focus is on the objectives of Islamic Da'wah, its sources and those called to Islam (mad'u). Finding reveals that the main objective of Islamic Da'wah is to attain God's favour, and the Qur'an, Sunnah and Muslim scholars inquiries are considered the sources in any da'wah activities as well as its methodology. Finally, Islam as a divine guidance (hidayah) should be conveyed to all human beings including Muslims and non-Muslims as reflected in the longest surah of the Qur'an, namely Surah al-Baqarah
