Citizens around the world desire government to be responsive to their concerns. Regardless of the ruling regime type, elites attempt to incorporate citizens\u27 preferences into public policies. Arab citizens are no different from other populations. This dissertation examines various determinants of public support for democracy in some Arab countries. This is both a compelling and critical topic for the following reasons. First, it helps to more deeply understand whether and how citizens\u27 preferences in the Arab world relate to the incidence of democracy in the region.
