Novae and supernovae are thermonuclear explosions that occur in binary systems, containing a white dwarf. The early stages of these phenomena have been studied extensively, but the interaction of the outburst ejecta, first with the accretion disk formed around the white dwarf, and then, with the secondary star, has hardly been studied. In this project, an axisymmetric Smoothed-Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) code, developed by members of the Astronomy and Astrophysics Group (GAA) at UPC, was used in order to study the interaction of the ejecta with the accretion disk, through high-resolution simulations.
