Background and aim: Symptomatic diverticular disease (SDD) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) share similar symptom pattern. However, comparative symptom pattern studies are hampered by different age of onset of symptoms, being more prevalent in younger patients for IBS and older patients for DD.
