The presence, distribution and chemical coding of neurons expressing the transmembrane voltage gated potassium channel Kv4.2 and one of its accessory subunits, KChIP1, have been studied in the enteric nervous system of mouse in homeostatic conditions. Both proteins have been revealed by multiple immunofluorescence stainings, and visualized by the confocal microscopy. Both proteins have been found and coexpressed in a subpopulation of myenteric neurons ccontaining Calbindin, Calretinin or Nitric oxide synthase. In the submucous plexus, Kv4.2-immunoreactivity has been found alone in a subpopulation of cholinergic and non cholinergic neurons
