Despite the many advantages of Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) or integrated systems, the research is inconclusive when it comes to the adoption of ERP in small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). At the very least a comprehensive ERP system is not easily implemented by SMEs. This paper seeks to explore the following question: what can be done to enhance the chance of success, of the ERP implementation process in SMEs? The paper shares some insight into research aimed at identifying the technical and organizational requirements of SMEs in the implementation of an ERP.
