In this paper, a new spectral-shape-based scalar ground motion intensity measure(IM) to estimatemaximum and cumulative demands isdiscussed. The parameter isbased on the pseudo-acceleration response spectrum. In the paper itis shown that itisefficientwith respect to the estimation of structural response. Moreover, itisbetter correlated with maximum and cumulativestructural response of single degree of freedom (SDOF),and multi degree of freedom (MDOF)structures subjected to seismic records with different characteristics (ordinary, near-fault pulse-likeand long-duration narrow-band), ifcompared with the most popularIMs. Finally, it is demonstrated that probabilistic seismic hazard analysis for the par...
