The difficult coupling of a-aminoisobutyric acid (Aib), during the synthesis of dipeptides [Z-Aib-Val-OMe, Z-Val-Aib-OMe, Z-Aib-Ile-OMe, Boc-Ile-Aib-OMe, Z-Aib-Aib-OMe, Boc-Aib-Aib-OMe, (Z = benzyloxycarbonyl, Boc = tert-butoxycarbonyl)], was carried out using PyBOP/HOBt and HBTU/HOBt reagents by application of microwave energy in the presence of solvent.
