In this paper an economic comparison between the sensible and the total energy recovery for HVAC systems in the Italian climate is dealt with. Both all-outdoor-air and mixed-air systems are considered. During the summer period, the energy saving by the sensible device is achieved by evaporative cooling. The performance of the hybrid innovative HVAC system and the traditional one, for both the heating and cooling season, are calculated hour by hour following the Test Reference Year (TRY) profile
