The systematics and thedistribution of the genus Cytheropteron Sars,1866 is studied in the Plio-Pleistocene of Monte San Nicola. Fifteen taxa have been identified, 7 of which are described as new: Cytheropteron (Aversovalva) denticulatum, C. fraudulentum, C. omega, C. (A.) pinarense gillesi, C. scalprum, C. sulcifer, C. vanharten
