Skillnader i driftkostnader mellan batteridrivna och konventionella flygplan : En simulationsbaserad fallstudie

The airline industry has recently undergone several changes. During the 2020 pandemic, theindustry was hit hard financially, and air travelers have recently responded that they intend tocut back on their air travel.Within a few years, battery-powered aircrafts are expected to enter the market with thepossibility of transporting more passengers than before and thus be able to compete withsmaller conventional aircraft. The direct emissions of greenhouse gases would be drasticallyreduced when using these planes, which could also lead to a changed attitude of travelerstowards air travel.In this case study, operating costs between battery-powered and conventional aviation havebeen compared by studying costs that arise when operating in flight networks. The purposehas been to investigate which differences in operating costs exist between the aircrafts and atwhich electricity prices the costs for battery-powered flight become as large as forconventional aircraft.The results show that operating costs for battery-powered aircraft are clearly lower than thosepowered by jet fuel when historical prices for electricity and jet fuel are used. The differencesbecome greater when emission charges for conventional flight are considered, as batterypowered flight will not be covered by these. The cost advantage also applies to higherelectricity prices than has been normal historically
