The aircraft’s mission system is subject to continual revision by removal or obsolete upgrades. In addition to user and integration requirements, security considerations have become a major driving force in the design of today’s avionics systems. To achieve this, system design uses functional risk analysis and abstract system description to provide a coherent design that meets certification needs. The objective of the study was to spot evaluation criteria that may allow developers and certification bodies to gauge specific real-time security-critical software development tools from a system security perspective.
