The impact of family policies on gender pay inequality: Analysis of Norway, Sweden and Finland

This bachelor's thesis deals with the influence of family policies on income inequality between men and women. The thesis aims to evaluate this influence, which is investigated by a comparative analysis of three Nordic countries - Norway, Sweden and Finland. Family policies can play an important role in creating an appropriate labor market environment, especially for women. The main tools it uses in this direction are maternity/paternity/parental leave and its features and the provision of preschool care for children. The three Nordic countries mentioned were chosen for analysis because of their political and cultural proximity to each other. The first chapter presents a general explanation of terms, theoretical insights and causes of gender income inequality. The second chapter defines family policy and its instruments examined in the analytical part. Further in this chapter is presented a description of the current family policies of the three countries selected for analysis. The third and last chapter is devoted to a comparative analysis of three family policies and how they affect the level of wage inequality between men and women.Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá vlivem rodinné politiky na míru příjmové nerovnosti mezi muži a ženami. Cílem práce je vyhodnocení tohoto vlivu, který je zkoumaný komparativní analýzou tří severských zemí – Norska, Švédska a Finska. Rodinná politika může hrát významnou roli při vytváření vhodného prostředí na pracovním trhu zejména pro ženy. Hlavními nástroji, které v tomto směru využívá jsou mateřská/otcovská/rodičovská dovolená a její vlastnosti a zajištění předškolní péče pro děti. Tři uvedené severské země byly pro analýzu vybrány kvůli své politické a kulturní vzájemné blízkosti. V první kapitole se zabývám obecným vysvětlením pojmů, teoretickými náhledy a příčinami vzniku genderové příjmové nerovnosti. V druhé kapitole vymezuji rodinnou politiku a její nástroje zkoumané v analytické části. Dále v této kapitole uvádím popis současné rodinné politiky tří zemí vybraných pro analýzu. Třetí a poslední kapitola je věnována již komparativní analýze tří rodinných politik a jakým způsobem se projevují na míře platové nerovnosti mezi muži a ženami
