Boycotts of the 1980 and 2022 Olympic Games, key differences and connections

Cílem práce je porovnání bojkotů z hlediska jejich formy, ohlasu v mezinárodním prostředí a případné změně bilaterálních vztahů mezi USA a pořadatelskou zemí nejprve SSSR a poté Čínou. Teoretické ukotvení má práce v rovině sportovní diplomacie. Cíle bude dosaženo na základě analýzy projevů státníků, představitelů MOV, analýzou bojkotů olympijských her v Moskvě 1980 a Pekingu 2022, společně s průzkumem veřejného mínění v USA.The aim of the thesis is to compare the boycotts in terms of their form, their resonance in the international environment and the possible change in bilateral relations between the US and the organizing country, first the USSR and then China. The theoretical anchoring of the thesis is in terms of sports diplomacy. The objective will be achieved by analyzing speeches of statesmen, IOC officials, analysis of boycotts of the 1980 Moscow and 2022 Beijing Olympics, along with a survey of public opinion in the US
