UX and UI design from the perspective of cognitive science

This thesis deals with the topic of cognitive sciences in the field of user interface design and user experience. The aim of the thesis is to map the knowledge of cognitive sciences, which helps to design a better user interface and user experience, with the aim of subsequently using this knowledge and testing its functionality in practice on real users. The theoretical part of the thesis deals specifically with the explanation of the concept of cognitive science and other related areas, which are necessary to understand the given issue. Furthermore, the concepts of user interface and user experience are discussed. Subsequently, several rules are presented, and their knowledge can help to design a more successful user interface and user experience. This knowledge is subsequently tested using A/B testing, where the reasons for the success of the winning variant are explained for each experiment using the knowledge gathered so far. Based on this experimental research, it was found that the use of knowledge collected from cognitive sciences contributes to positive results. The correct application of this knowledge in the right cases can help companies to achieve positive results for their business.Tato diplomová práce se zabývá tématem kognitivních věd v oblasti návrhu uživatelského rozhraní a uživatelské zkušenosti. Cílem práce je zmapovat znalosti kognitivních věd, které dopomáhají k návrhu lepšího UI a UX s cílem tyto znalosti následně využít a otestovat jejich funkčnost na reálných uživatelích v praxi. Teoretická část práce se zabývá konkrétním vysvětlením pojmu kognitivní věda a dalších oblastí s ním souvisejících, které jsou nezbytné k pochopení dané problematiky. Dále jsou ještě rozebrány pojmy UI a UX. Následně je představeno několik pravidel, jejichž znalost může dopomoci k návrhu úspěšnějšího uživatelského rozhraní a uživatelské zkušenosti. Tyto znalosti jsou následně otestovány za pomoci A/B testování, kde u každého experimentu jsou s využitím doposud posbíraných znalostí vysvětleny důvody úspěšnosti vítězné varianty. Na základě tohoto experimentálního výzkumu bylo zjištěno, že využití námi posbíraných znalostní z kognitivních věd dopomáhá k pozitivním výsledkům, z čehož vyplývá, že správná aplikace těchto znalostí ve správných případech může společnostem dopomoci k dosáhnutí pozitivních výsledků na jejich business
