According to the World Health Organization, cancer is the second leading cause of mortality worldwide with more than 9 million deaths each year1. In the case of many solid tumors, treatment involves surgical resection with the goal of achieving negative margins while also sparing healthy tissue. To this end, surgeons rely on visual inspection, palpation, and intraoperative histopathology of frozen tumor sections.
