An Analysis of Students Code Switching and Code Mixing on Learning Process in English Classroom at MAN 1 Medan

This research that has been conducted entitled “An Analysis of Students Code Switching and Code Mixing on Learning Process in English Classroom at MAN 1 Medan” with the background that in the process of learning English, all students and the teacher are required to use code switching and code mixing. With code switching and code mixing, these students can be more fluent in English especially in speaking English. So this study aims to determine the analysis of Students Code Switching and Code Mixing on Learning Process in English Classroom Medan. The research methodology in this study used a qualitative method where the data collected by the researcher is based on the results of interviews and also direct observation by the researcher. The results of this study found the types, functions and reasons of used code switching and mixing by the students and the teacher in English classroom. Based on findings of the above research, it can be concluded that in learning English, code switching and mixing is very effective, because using code switching and code mixing can make the students more fluent in English
