Water scarcity is mostly driven by global climate change and population expansion. Accordingly, water scarcity is undoubtedly one of the main challenges to achieving the sustainable development goals of zero hunger (SDG 2) and clean water and sanitation (SDG 6). At the same time, water and food security are intimately linked.
