The electrical generation of photovoltaic systems is variable and non-dispatchable. Energy storage systems can provide the system with energy management capabilities. In particular, with a hybrid system that combines a photovoltaic system and an energy storage system, it is possible to deliver firm power to the grid, if it is correctly dimensioned and operated.
