In South Korea, with the highest suicide rate among Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development countries, doctors of both Korean medicine (KM) and Western medicine (WM) are licensed in the national healthcare system. The beneficial effects of complementary and integrative medicine, including KM, for depressive disorders, a major cause of suicide, have been reported in some clinical studies.
