Une fois mises à la lumière, le photorécepteur phytochrome B (PHYB) s'active et enclenche dans le noyau le programme de développement à la lumière - la photomophogenèse, qui conduit à la biogenèse des chloroplastes depuis des étioplastes accumulés à l'obscurité.
