The disease Malaria, caused by parasites of the Plasmodium spp. is one of many neglected tropical diseases. With 241 million cases and 627,000 deaths (2020) it is one of the most dangerous infectious diseases. As currently available treatments and preventive measures are insufficient for battling Malaria, alternatives are needed. In this study, a broad number of fully human monoclonal antibodies were generated by utilizing antibody phage display technology. These antibodies bind to several different proteins that are involved in the invasion process of human erythrocytes by the malaria causing parasite Plasmodium falciparum.
