Using castor oil pie for feeding catfish (R. quelen).

The nutritional requirements of fish is essential for proper growth of them, but this is the main cost of production. The current world production of fishmeal is not able to meet the demand for production of feed for aquatic organisms. In response to this demand, the price of the product has undergone frequent increases. With the increasing expansion of biofuel production in the country, replacing conventional ingredients residual plant biomass becomes a possible option for reducing feed costs in fish farming. Stimulate the production of native species provides greater sustainability to the environment and ensures the existence of native fish populations in the local ecosystem. In this context, the choice of catfish for cultivation in Rio Grande do Sul, presents itself as an excellent alternative, since their adaptive characteristics to the region, being a kind of easy induction of spawning and feeding habits have varied. The objective of this study was to evaluate the growth performance of silver catfish fed with increasing levels of inclusion of castor cake, presented as a possible substituent protein and energy of feed ingredients. For this, 300 silver catfish (R. quelen) were used with an initial average weight of 10,49 ± 1,41 g and total length of 11,14 ± 0,51 cm distributed in a completely randomized design with 5 treatments : MC, M5, M10, M15 and M20, being respectively: (control, 5 %, 10 %, 15 % and 20 % inclusion of castor cake without detoxification treatment ) and 4 repetitions, lasting 60 days. After this period were evaluated final weight, HSI, CF and body composition. The results indicate that the use of biomass to levels of up to 15% of meal is possible without prejudice weight gain.Sem bolsaO atendimento às necessidades nutricionais dos peixes é essencial para o crescimento adequado dos mesmos, porém esse é o principal custo de produção. A atual produção mundial de farinha de peixe não é capaz de suprir a demanda de produção de rações para os organismos aquáticos. Em resposta a esta demanda, o preço do produto vem sofrendo aumentos frequentes. Com a crescente expansão da produção de biocombustíveis no país, a substituição de ingredientes convencionais por biomassa vegetal residual torna-se uma possível opção para redução dos custos da ração no cultivo de peixes. Estimular a produção de espécies nativas oferece maior segurança ao ambiente e garante a existência de populações nativas de peixes no ecossistema local. Neste contexto, a escolha do jundiá para cultivo no Rio Grande do Sul, apresenta-se como excelente alternativa, dado às suas características adaptativas a esta região, por ser uma espécie de fácil indução à desova e por possuir hábito alimentar variado. O objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar o desempenho zootécnico de jundiás, alimentados com níveis crescentes de inclusão de torta de mamona, apresentado como possível substituinte proteico e energético de ingredientes da ração. Para tanto, foram utilizados 300 jundiás (Rhamdia quelen) com peso médio inicial de 10,49 1,41 g e comprimento total médio de 11,14 0,51 cm distribuídos em um delineamento inteiramente casualizado, composto de 5 tratamentos: MC, M5, M10, M15 e M20, sendo respectivamente: (controle, 5%, 10%, 15% e 20% de inclusão de torta de mamona sem tratamento de destoxificação) e 4 repetições, com duração de 60 dias. Após este período foram avaliados peso final, IHS, FC e composição corporal. Os resultados indicam que é possível a utilização desta biomassa com níveis de até 15% de torta sem prejuízo no ganho de peso
