The present paper deals with the manoeuvrability of planing crafts. A previously developed mathematical model for the prediction of the 4+2 DOF boat motions is considered and direct CFD results for the evaluation of manoeuvring coefficients are used, substituting the values obtained from regression formulae. Results are validated at first against captive model tests measurements, then simulations of full scale sea trials are presented, showing promising results which allow to consider the proposed approach feasible for the prediction of planning boats manoeuvrability
