The School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering in Genoa started its activity in 1870 as \u2018Royal School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering\u2019 with the aim to increase the scientific knowledge of ship designers and ship engineers for both the Italian Navy and the Italian merchant marine. At the moment the University of Genoa has two degrees of 5 years, and one PhD course in topics related to Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering.
