This research focuses on the optimization of the ballistic properties of an advanced composite armor system made by an Alumina ceramic outer layer and a second back-packing layer formed by aramidic fibers in an epoxy matrix. This new advanced armor can be integrated e.g. in superstructures of a fast speed patrol boat in order to ensure the protection of the crew and of the equipment installed on board.
