The hautors have carried out a traffic capacity assessment for some railway lines using both analytical methos and computer simulations; for each metoth, calibrating paramiters have been identify to produce the same results as simulations. A set of suggested valiues for calibration parameters of line capacity formulas. in varius system configurations have been obtained. A short review of mathematical approaches to access the traffic capacity of a railway lines firstly presented. Then, the application of different models to a some case study is proposed. Finally, the comparison with output data resulting from computer simulation is discussed
