To keep a communication running smoothly, the right strategy is needed in the behavior of maintaining relationships. The purpose of this study was to determine the maintenance of relationships undertaken by ex-lover couples in a friendship relationship and how each individual maintains a friendship relationship. This research is qualitative with descriptive method. Data collection techniques using in-depth interviews (indept interview). Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that making friends with ex-lover can be done if both want to remain friends after breaking up. By keeping a distance from each other and avoiding conflicts that will occur in friendship and giving each other motivation and advice about the relationship that each of them has lived. Making friends with ex-lover can make learning relationships that have been lived with new people, not breaking the relationship so that there are no conflicts and problems with each other
