Tissue-specific inactivation of E-cadherin combined with tumor suppressor loss leads to invasive and metastatic cancers in mice. While epidermal E-cadherin loss in mice induces squamous cell carcinomas, inactivation of E-cadherin in the mammary gland leads to invasive lobular carcinoma.
