Introduction - The Model for End-Stage Liver Disease (MELD) score has replaced the conventional UNOS statuses 3/2B/2A to assess risk for mortality in patients awaiting liver transplantation (LT). However, further studies should be performed to evaluate the predictive value of the MELD score for posttransplant mortality.
