Anti-N-Methyl-D-Aspartate (NMDA) autoimmune encephalitis (NMDAR AE) is an autoimmune disease characterized by auto-antibodies (Ab) against the GluN1 subunit of NMDAR. The etiologies known of this pathology are the presence of a tumor or an infection with Herpes Simplex Virus and young women are most often affected. Neurological and psychiatric symptoms are observed and the diagnosis is mainly based on detection of anti-NMADR Ab in cerebrospinal fluid. The involvement of B cells, and more specifically the role of pathogenic Ab in the pathology, is well described in the literature.
