Based on the perspective of energy and carbon emission constraints, this paper measures and decomposes the green total factor productivity (GTFP) of China’s industries from 2003 to 2018. By applying the GTWR model, this paper also identifies the factors driving GTFP and spatial and temporal heterogeneity. The results show that (1) China’s industrial GTFP exhibits a dynamic “growth-steady-growth-decline” trend. The growth rate in eastern China is much higher than that in other regions. Technological progress is found to be the main factor contributing to GTFP growth. (2) The regional differences in GTFP are widening over time.
