We prove the convergence of a finite volume method for the approximation of a convection-diffusion equation involving a Joule effect term. The convergence proof relies on compactness arguments and on a priori estimates building on a discrete version of the second-order Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequality we also establish in this paper
