Root resorption is a progressive partial or total loss of dental root tissues. This is one of the most common complications encountered during orthodontic treatment. After describing the biological mechanisms responsible for this phenomenon, the radiological and etiological diagnosis of these resorptions are detailed through a literature review. The risk factors are biological factors (general, systemic, therapeutic, local and traumatic) and mechanical factors. The root resorption prevention and treatment are detailed. Finally, the responsibility and obligations of the practitioner are discussed. It appears from multiple studies that the mechanisms that control, regulate and are responsible for orthodontic root resorption are still poorly u...
