Some polyester and polycarbonate-based waterborne polyurethanes (WPU) were characterised by means of several techniques, to correlate the morphology with their structures and properties. The morphological analysis carried out by transmission electron microscopy on thin sections showed that the selected polyurethanes, after purification, exhibit a nanostructured phase separation between hard and soft domains. The presence of hydrogen bonding and the hard/soft ratio were evaluated by FT IR and NMR spectroscopy.
