A reading model for Resilience in Terraced Wine Landscape

The paper presents a part of a doctoral thesis that explores the theme of Agriculture Cultural Landscapes (ACL) through the interpretative key of resilience. The proposed goal was starting from the concept amply demonstrated in the literature of “ACL as resilient landscape” and, from that, build and validate a reading model. That objective has articulated a deductive path, led by co-evolutionary perspective of Norgaard (1984, 1994), which allows to understand interactions of the evolutionary dynamics between environment and society. Then, to test the theoretical approach experimentally, we get to outline a method for reading resilience, starting from an historically resilient landscape (as the terraced wine landscape), from which we extrapolate characteristics and properties useful to future quantitative developments of the model. The following contribution is organized in three parts: (i) a theoretical part that structure a reading model of resilience; (ii) the second part proposes the model application to the case study of an UNESCO wine landscape; (iii) the last part shows the results of the application, suggesting new ways of development. The research is proposed to suggest new methodological and interpretative frameworks useful in an integrated and adaptive governance of historical agricultural heritage, based on preserving through the strengthen of resilience
