The LHCb muon system will use Multi-Wire Proportional Chambers (MWPC) in all regions with a particle flux between 1 KHz/cm^2 and 100 KHz/cm^2. After an overview of the chamber requirements and specifications, the design and construction procedures including the quality control of the detector system are described.
