The purpose of this paper is to provide some empirical relationships to estimate shear wave velocity, VS , from cone penetration resistance qc measured by Cone Penetration Tests. The correlations VS-qc , calibrated for the representative alluvial soil of the Ferrara region, can be used when direct measures of the shear wave velocity are unavailable.
