Derivatives of Aluminium with Mono-, Di- and Tri-ethanol Amines

Reactions of aluminium isopropoxide with mono-, di -, and tri-ethanolamines have been studied in presence of benzene. Reactions of monoethanolamine and aluminium isopropoxide gave mono-, di-, and tri-derivatives by simple stoichiometric reactions. Aluminium isopropoxide (1 mole) and diethanolamine (1 mole) afford Al (dieth. am.) OPri, whereas the reaction in the molar ratio of 2:3 yields AI2(dieth. am.)3 . An equimolecular mixture of aluminium isopropoxide and triethanolamine yields aluminium triethanolaminate, Molecular might determination of diethanolamine derivatives shows them to have molecular association of about 4, whereas aluminium triethanolaminate exhibits a hexameric nature.
