The dynamics of heat exchange between helium gas and a matrix material, in a Gifford-McMahon cryocooler, is simulated using a generalized Hausen equations system. The temperature dependence of heat exchange is taken into account by introducing a time dependent heat transfer coefficient. A profile of gas outlet temperature versus time is obtained which is in good agreement with experimental data
