Reuse of organic fraction recovered from Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) is limited because of environmental pollution risks caused by the use of materials recovered. The legislation is currently geared to allow the use of a very small quantity for agronomic and environmental restoration, about 10 tons/ha*year. In these quantities, cost control and environmental monitoring pre and post application, are often inappropriate to the benefits obtained.
