In this study the influence of the small elements, like ventilation holes or air exchange units, on façade sound insulation is evaluated. Experimental data of sound insulation, carried out from laboratory and field measurements, are compared for different types of natural ventilation systems, focusing in particular on the interaction between air exchange rate and the maximum achievable façade insulation on the same type of external wall. A comparison between predictions, carried out according to EN 12354-3 standard, and field façade sound insulation measurements is also shown
