Energy storage, traditionally well established in the form of large scale pumped-hydro systems, is finding increased attraction in medium and smaller scale systems. Such expansion is entirely complementary to the wider uptake of intermittent renewable resources and to distributed generation in general, which are likely to present a whole range of new business opportunities for storage systems and their suppliers.
