Melophagus rupicaprinus Rondani, 1879 ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1879: 12. TYPE LOCALITY: Rondani gave no type locality in his original description. Guiglia (1957: 195) gave “ Alpi occidental. [= western Alps]” as the type locality probably because the species was collected by Ghiliani on Rupicapra rupicapra (Linnaeus, 1758), which is present on the Alps. TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, holotype (MSNG): Antilope rupicapra D. Ghiliani / Typus / rupicaprinus Rndn. / Melophagus rupicaprinus Rndn., Typus! CURRENT STATUS: valid species (Soós & Hůrka 1986: 226, Pape et al. 1995: 8).
