Husserl's thinking of the possible is first presented in its distinction between - for instance - the pure, the ideal, the empty, the motivated or the problematical possibility. In the concept of 'facultative possibility', which emerges in Husserl's late period, the possible finds in its open perspectives the foundation for every process, but at the same time in this horizon also the limit of its contingency
