This paper applies the word-based model to the description of the Sardinian prefixes. There are cases in which neither a morphematic segmentation nor a single lexeme or word can explain a morphological analysis. Consequently, a comparison between sets of words which have morphological features in common and which are also pertinent, may be better. In particular, an unusual phenomenon has been found: the Sardinian in- prefix present only the semantic value of “spatial-conceptual” and there is no evidence of the vlue of “negation”. On the contrary, other Romance languages show both values
